Facebook has released their newest app - an attempt to compete against SnapchAt by releasing Slingshot. The purpose of the app is to allow friends to send quick photo or video messages to friends - allowing them to take quick photos, draw on them, and then send them to select friends, sort of like Snapchat. But what makes Slingshot unique is the mechanism for sharing.
If I have a friend that sends me a "Slingshot," I have to reply with a "Slingshot" before I can see what he or she sent to me. It prevents one person from always creating content when everyone else is just "consuming" content.
After "Slingshotting" a picture to someone, they can record a quick video response, or even Slingshot another picture.
I downloaded the app, but have not been able to try it with any other friends. I guess I'm just the early adopter. I'm curious to see if this works out. I'm not much of a "snap-chatter," so if I keep using this app is anyone's guess.
